SFO fails in £40m Goldshield case

LONDON (ShareCast) - The Serious Fraud Office's (SFO) failure to make its case against drug distributor Goldshield and four other companies stick struck the government a major blow today.

The eight-year investigation into allegations of price-fixing cost the taxpayer over £40m.

Earlier this year, the SFO decided to continue its case against the company. The House of Lords had found that price fixing of itself does not amount a conspiracy to defraud.

But Mr Justice Pitchford dismissed the case at Southwark Crown Court today.
